Each year the Queen, Prince Philip and Prince Charles grant royal warrants to firms that have been supplying them with goods and services for five years. The companies selected are allowed to display the royal coat of arms on their products and are said to be making more than £4billion extra a year just from the kudos they gain. With so much at stake, Antony Barnett examines the system that grants royal warrants and asks whether some holders are falling below the quality mark.
